Wetlands are considered nature’s
sponges. They are the natural answer to water filtration and
purification by reducing nutrients, filtering out sediments,
precipitating metals, breaking down toxic compounds, and digesting
pathogens.
There
are several applications for wetland filters. Clients
who wish to keep a lot of large fish will require a
filtration system that is sufficient to keep up with the
wastes these fish produce. Many of our clients have
“green thumbs” and are attracted to all of the new types of
plants that can be grown in a water feature. Creating
a wetland filter off to the side of the pond will provide
the perfect planting bed for a variety of water plants.
The EPA has
conducted extensive studies of wetland waste treatment projects,
which are well documented on their website. The
Aquascapes Designs products we use for wetland filtration are backed
by 10 years of research and design.
